Some bonds last forever. They transcend space and time because love is eternal.
When Dana has a dance recital, she wants to do her absolute best. Dance defines her life, and as a teenager she plans to attend a college with a good dance program. Before every performance, she practices her routine, she visualizes success, and she asks her closest friend to be with her … her twin sister Laura, who died in utero.
Eighteen years ago, before her mother’s scheduled C-section, she went for her regular doctor’s visit, and they detected only one heart beat, and immediately rushed her to the hospital. On the way, she called her family and said, “Please, please pray. They hear only one heartbeat.”
After the C-section, they discovered a true knot in the umbilical cord, and the baby, whose name was Laura, had died. Her sister Dana was born.
As a little girl, Dana said she was visited by Laura and knew immediately who she was. Neither time, nor space, nor death could keep them apart.
The grieving process is healing, yes. But it is also suffering and it is learning, learning about yourself and the loved one you lost. Death is part of the human condition and one of the secrets it reveals is that love lasts forever. Love never ends. Love endures into our next life.
