“You cannot heal what you do not first acknowledge.”
– Richard Rohr

You can’t overcome grief as much as you can accept it. You cannot deny it. Recognition is the first step of your journey. The New Day Journal: A Journey from Grief to Healing is clear on that point and says at the very beginning, “You have to accept the reality of the loss.” The path can be long and arduous, but it’s the only A dry rocky creekway. If you’ve ever climbed a mountain, it can be an adventure that is often daunting, especially when you reach the steepest parts and you look up and see how far you still have to go… the rocks, the narrow trail, the portions you have to scramble over. Your only option is to take it one slow step at a time and don’t wonder how you’re ever going to make it … because you will. There are two things to remember: Concentrate less on the seemingly endless route that lies before you and more on the steps you are taking, one after the other. And every so often, pause to look back, and you’ll be amazed at the progress you’ve made even when you didn’t realize it. That will give you confidence to continue and hope for the future.
