“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
– Matthew 11:28

When most of us are confronted with a crisis or tragedy in our lives, we try to think our way through it, examining all the options, the ins and the outs. In fact, there are countless systems of thought out there, such as Dianetics, modern Stoicism and neuro-linguistic programming. You can find anything you need in the self-help — now known as the self-transformation — section of your super bookstore or on Amazon.

All of them promise to bring you peace by promoting techniques for you to work through your crisis or tragedy and the day-to-day challenges of life in our troubled world — especially when you’re dealing with the loss of a loved one, a broken relationship, a career change and an illness.

No Jesus No PeaceBut none of them can bring you true peace. The best personal philosophy that you can adopt can be articulated in eight words. In fact, all of us have seen it on bumper stickers when we’re caught in a traffic jam on the interstate highway with nowhere to go and nothing to do except take in the scenery.

The bumper sticker simply says, “No Jesus, no peace. Know Jesus know peace.”
They’re four words with a message that can change your life forever.

We live in an age when too many people pursue fake peace and false alternatives to the true peace that only Jesus can give. Instead, they select counterfeit peace by pursuing New Age philosophies, pop psychology, addictions and materialism.

Most of us give Jesus only a fraction of our attention because we’re constantly focused on careers, romantic relationships, political agendas, the pursuit of pleasure and possessions, and moving up in the world. When you are on your healing journey, you realize how meaningless those things are in your search for real peace.

As he, himself, said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”

No Jesus, no peace. Know Jesus know peace.
