For most people, Mother’s Day is celebrated joyously with laughter and memories and appreciation … but it’s harder for mothers who are grieving.
Those suffering a loss, whether it is recent or past, can find the words “Happy Mother’s Day” painful. So, consider reaching out to mothers who are grieving with a phone call, an email or a personal note, where you tell them that you realize this must be a very difficult time … and that you are thinking of them. You might even consider saying a silent prayer of comfort that they have healing in the coming days.
That’s all you have to do. Very simple, very meaningful. Let someone who is hurting know that in this moment, they are not alone. This compassionate gesture will make a world of difference to someone with a broken heart, and might even give them a ray of hope on a special day.
