The following reflection was written by Ann about her late husband Clete, to whom she was married for 61 years.
My husband Clete and I were a team. We never had words, except when I didn’t cut the fruit and veggies small enough for him, so I solved that problem. I cooked, but he cleaned up.
I never considered my husband old even when he could no longer play golf with me. I would drive him to Homewood Acres Golf Course, and he would sit under the tent and have a nice visit with our pastor, Father Dargan.
It was hard to beat my sons, who loved to play golf with their dad. Clete would hit the ball first, and they would try to outdrive him with a bad shot. It always happened.
I love my husband more than ever each day, and although he is in Heaven now, he helps me while I am here on Earth in so many ways.”

Clete died at 90 years old in 2009. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Corps of Engineers in Europe from 1942 to 1946. Later, he was a product manager in the Eyelet Division at the USM Corporation in Shelton for 47 years until his retirement.
