The Healing Journey

Think for a moment about the Virgin Mary’s role in God’s plan for all of humanity. A simple, seemingly insignificant girl, perhaps no older than 13 who lived in an obscure village … and yet his choice of her and her “yes” to his plan changed the world forever. Because of her, God became man and we became closer to God. She was by all worldly measures an “insignificant person” and yet she was fundamental to the plan that God had. He did not choose the learned and the wise. He did not choose the powerful or the prestigious. Truly, God’s ways are inscrutable and contrary to the ways of our world.

Now, for a moment, think about his plan for you because there is a plan for us all. Each of us impacts countless people in our lives, knowingly and unknowingly. Our lives, even in our grief and sadness, carry great responsibility. We eventually will account for each moment that we have been given on Earth.

This much is certain. If we wake up each day, even in our suffering, and say “yes” to whatever God has on our To-do list — and never doubt that he has things for you to do — miraculous and wonderful things will happen. You will help change the lives of many others even when you’re not aware of it because God will be working through you the same way he worked through a young Jewish girl two millennia ago and to this day.

You don’t have to look for opportunities to say “yes” to God’s plan for you. Ask him to open your eyes and your heart so you can recognize them.
