Strength for the Journey

Lord, give me strength for the journey,
Strength enough to bear all my burdens.
And when I see my neighbor stumble,
As You did under your cross,
May I see and bear his burdens as my own.

Lord, grant your mercy upon me,
For what I have done and failed to do.
Help me to see as with your loving eyes
All those who feel forgotten or in despair.
Give me mercy enough, Lord, to share.

You have blessed me, O Lord,
With enough for my needs;
With two coats of which one is my own.
For it’s You who shivers outside in the cold,
And my second coat truly is yours.

Your gifts, Lord, remain in the form of gifts,
Given that they will be shared.
For all that I have, Lord,
And all that I am,
Comes from You and to You it returns.
