“My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to…”

So often, we want those we love who are suffering a loss or any other tragedy to get a glimpse of hope in the darkness, like a break in the storm clouds when the sun’s rays flash through to remind us that hope is still alive and we’re being watched over. Yes, we wish nothing but the best for them.

A song that expresses that sentiment is “My Wish” by the country group Rascal Flatts. It was one of their first hits, written by Jeffrey Steele and Steve Robson, which reached number one on the country charts and was a popular crossover single that went to 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also re-recorded and released again on its 10th anniversary in 2016. The message of compassion and hope, which the song embodies, has touched countless people over the past 20 years. One listener wrote this comment, “My 25-year-old son, a third-year medical student, passed away on Saturday. This song was his anthem. Please live by this song and make a difference in this world.”
