Very often, families and friends have a bubble ceremony at the interment of a young person who has died. People participate by blowing bubbles while the following prayer is read:
Bubbles are magical. They make us smile. They make us giggle.
They remind us of simple joys and simple times and childhood.
Bubbles are brief. They are here for just a moment, sparkling, bouncing and shimmering.
Then, having completed their purpose, they are gone.
Left behind is the memory of the wonder and joy of the experience.
So as we watch these bubbles dancing in the air,
let us be thankful to God for (name)’s time on Earth.
It was not long enough for anyone here,
but (name) completed what they were meant to do and brought joy, light and energy into our lives.
And now their task is complete.
While it makes us sad to not have them with us in the world,
we will always remember this sparkling life that bounced through our lives
and left memories that will live with us forever.
