Not a day goes by when Ann doesn’t think about her beloved husband Paul who died after 70 years of marriage. Their love was eternal. And George always told his wife Lillian, “You’ll miss me when I’m gone.” And she laughed. Today, as she approaches her 100th birthday, she admits, “I miss him so much every day. I can’t wait to see him again.”
And they’re not alone. Take a walk through the cemetery, and you’ll see signs everywhere you look that love is eternal. The inscriptions on grave stones of married couples tell the story.
Within a heart two hands are clasped with the words, “In Heaven too, you will have my hand.” Another stone has pictures of a deceased husband and wife, within two hearts which say “Soul Mates Forever” and has two doves on a branch.
So many contain gold wedding bands entwined, or grave stones shaped like a heart with their names together. Another says, “Together forever in God’s care” and “Precious memories in time turn into gold.” And a very popular inscription that proclaims, “Always together.” They were together in life and after a brief interlude will be rejoined and together for eternity in Heaven.
