We all want the peace that Jesus promises, but it isn’t a peace the world can give.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you,” the Prince of Peace said. “I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Sometimes life can be going well for us and we think we’ve found peace, but inevitably something happens to disrupt that temporary peace. We suffer a loss or we encounter a hardship. At times like that, it’s important to remember Jesus’ other words, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus’ promise of peace was not a promise that our lives would be free from trials and crises. But with hope in Christ, we will find the peace that lasts, that weathers hardships and difficulties.
