Denzel Washington is considered one of the greatest actors of modern times, the winner of two Academy Awards for the movie “Glory” in 1989 and “Training Day” in 2001, not to mention a Tony Award and three Golden Globes. But perhaps the role he values the most is that of Pentecostal minister, which was a lifelong goal he achieved at 69 on December 21, 2024.
During an interview last August on “Jake’s Takes,” he discussed the Academy Awards and said, “I don’t care about that kind of stuff. I’ve been at this a long time, and there’s a time when I won and shouldn’t have won and then didn’t win and should’ve won. Man gives the award. God gives the reward….On my last day, [Oscars] aren’t going to do me a bit of good.”
