God is at work in our lives each and every day, in every moment, even in pain, but we seldom realize it. To appreciate this constant, compassionate presence we need to contemplate his providence as often as we can. Take time during your day in peace and quiet to think about all the ways he has been at work in your life by putting people, places and things in your path. If you only look at the anxiety and misery, you are not looking with the eyes of God. And when you take time to contemplate the blessings, they will be apparent to you so don’t hesitate to share them with others, and encourage them to do the same thing.

All of our lives are filled with wonderful experiences. Yes, there is no denying that life contains pain and disappointment, but those occasions do not define our lives. And even during those occasions, if you take the time to look with your heart, you will see God at work. Since we are all children of a Loving Father, we can be assured that He is constantly sending us graces, blessings and opportunities for joy so we can experience his love and share it with others. But joy is a choice. Hope is a choice. Gratitude to God is a choice. Make it today, and make it again tomorrow … and you will see your life change … and the lives of those around you will change too.
