In his book, “Whispers of God’s Love: Touching the Lives of Loved Ones After Death,” Catholic author Mitch Finley shares the following story about a woman whose grandson died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome:
“Catherine was comforted in a dream about the death of a loved one. Her first grandchild, a boy, died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome just two days shy of being six weeks old. ‘He had just been baptized the weekend before,’ Catherine said. The baby’s father—Catherine’s oldest son—and mother were visiting with the baby at the time.
“‘Our daughter-in-law found him, and for weeks we all worried about whether he had suffered because we knew so little about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome,’ she said.
“Not long after her infant grandson’s death, Catherine said, ‘I guess I had a vision of how he left us and went home.’ Catherine saw the baby sleeping in his crib, as he had been when he died, and he heard a voice call him. The baby looked up, his face all smiles. A bright light was in front of him, and he turned and looked at his mom and dad in bed asleep. Then he stood up and ran toward the bright light.”
“‘I didn’t talk to him,’ Catherine recalled, ‘or experience his presence … but I knew he left peacefully and never suffered at all.’”
