The Healing Journey

October 7,  2025

October is the month set aside for the rosary, and today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. On this day in 1571, a fleet of Catholic naval vessels from Spain, Venice and Genoa were victorious over a much larger Moslem fleet in the Battle of Lepanto. The Christian forces prayed the Rosary to Our Lady, and she is said to have appeared to them in the heavens, holding a rosary. Pray the Rosary with increased fervor this month, especially for the Blessed Mother’s intentions.

Dominican Prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary

God, our Father,
we thank you for the gift of your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we are
adopted as your beloved sons and daughters.
At Pentecost, you poured out the Holy Spirit
upon Our Lady and the Apostles
while they were at prayer.
Pour out that same Holy Spirit upon us
as we meditate upon the mysteries of Christ
contained in the Most Holy Rosary.
Enlighten our faith, strengthen our hope,
and set us ablaze with love
for your and our neighbor.
Graciously grant us St. Dominic’s
own zeal for the salvation of souls.
May our prayers lead souls to Jesus through Mary
so that we may know you and your saving power
now and for all eternity.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
— Amen.
Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!
St. Dominic, pray for us!
