A Prayer for Compassion Toward Those Who Are Grieving
God, our Lord, we seek Your presence this day as our anchor. Help us to help those whose losses are beyond their comprehension or ours, people with voids so vast so as to threaten consuming the light of their spirits. In this darkness, we turn to You, for who else can understand our depths of sorrow but You, who with Mary, Our Mother, endured the death of your only Son? God, our Lord, wrap us in the comfort of Your love, the only solace that can touch the corners of unfillable emptiness. Guide us through the fog of others’ pain and our own, hold our hands as we navigate unknown paths of mourning. Help us to remember that in the midst of tears, You are the unwavering rock beneath our feet, the wind beneath our wings, and hope beyond all telling.
In your Spirit, and in the name of the Risen Jesus, let us now proceed in that peace, which only you can give.
