When Ann began her first year without her husband Clete, she sent an email of reassurance to all her friends at the Senior Center, which read:
“Hello everyone, This will be my first year without my beloved Clete, but I know he is always looking out for me. Today, for example, the light was flashing on the dashboard of the Impala, telling me the left front tire was low. Well, because of the coming snow storm, I was out and about doing my errands but afraid to continue even to the library, although I did manage to get the essentials.
“I pulled into the first gas station, but saw no friendly faces, so I went to the one where gas is cheap and checked out the men doing their own pumping. With tears in my eyes, I approached this nice young man who was finishing his job and asked him if he could please help me as I was so nervous to do this by myself. In fact, I did not even know how to do it.
“He was so nice, and I did not even know you had to put three quarters in to do the air. He did that also. I wanted to pay him, but he would not take it. Luckily, I had a supply of bread, so I did force a loaf of bread on him after he also checked and set all the things on the dash for the clock and radio, which were all out of control. I thanked him and told him about how I missed my dear husband, and the young man then told me how he lost his wife two years ago and also their precious baby. There are so many angels out there, just waiting to do God’s will. Merry Christmas to you all. Love Ann.”
