Has it ever occurred to you that your life would not be the same if it hadn’t been for the inspiration and comfort from a supporting cast of characters who held you up when you fell down and who offered a simple kind word when you needed it? If we take the time to look back on our lives, we’ll see the influence of countless people God put in our path when we needed them. If they have passed on to the next life, take time to pray for them and to say thank you for those unsolicited gestures that made getting through life a little easier for you.
For 42 years, Tuck has been a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and been friends with many priests who were assigned there. To this day, he recalls all of them with fondness. Some are living, and some are gone.
He realizes, in retrospect, the enormous role they played in guiding him through life when challenges and crises occurred. It wasn’t always easy. But he came to a simple conclusion: “Every priest has taught me something.” Still active in his parish, he says with a hint of humor and honest self-assessment: “I need all the help I can get…And I’m still getting it.”
