About the Little Angels Shrine

The Little Angels Shrine at Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown, Connecticut provides a sacred place to bury in consecrated ground the remains of a miscarriage, a stillborn baby or an infant who died shortly after birth.

This consecrated ground honors the memory of all deceased children, and it provides a reverent place of prayer and healing for parents and others who have experienced the death of a child.

The shrine features an altar area with seats and benches for services, surrounded by 14 Carrara marble Stations of the Cross on granite platforms. Beyond that, there are five memorial walls where remains, when available, will be buried, and a plaque will be affixed to the wall. When remains are not available, a plaque honoring your child will be placed on a memorial wall at the shrine.

Monthly Service Honoring Our Children

Depending on the need, we will gather one Saturday each month, and a priest or deacon will offer a Committal Ceremony when we bury the remains of any miscarried babies. We will work individually with families who request the burial of a stillborn baby or a newly-born infant. There will be no charge for the service, burial, plaques/inscriptions, but we gratefully accept your donation to help support this sacred and healing space.
